Newcomer house Volunteers
The historic Newcomer House at Antietam National Battlefield is the site of the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area Exhibit and Visitor Center, made possible by a cooperative agreement between the National Park Service and the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers are essential to keeping the Newcomer House open weekends in April, May, October and November and daily June through September.

Newcomer Programming Proposal
The Newcomer House at Antietam National Battlefield serves as the Exhibit and Visitor Center for the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area. National Park Service volunteers provide information to Heritage Area visitors during the open season, from early April to early December.
HCWHA is seeking programming proposals, including (but not limited to) interpretive programs such as living history and lectures related to the Civil War; author presentations and book signings; hikes starting from the Newcomer House; children’s activities; performances of period music. Outdoor programs on the grounds of Newcomer House are encouraged. All programs offered at Newcomer House are free, open to the public, and suitable for families.
We typically do not have funds to cover programming costs. Please indicate if you are able to make your program an in-kind donation to the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area on the form below.
