In recognition of 250 years of history since the American Revolution, the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area presents the US 250th GeoTour, a geocaching experience.

Explore Maryland’s Carroll, Frederick, and Washington Counties, visiting historic sites, solving puzzles, and finding caches that should delight beginner and veteran cachers alike.

It’s free to get started geocaching: create an account on geocaching.com and download the Geocaching app to get started. Record the code found in each physical cache’s logbook. Find 15 codes and record them in the GeoTour passport to receive a commemorative Geocoin while supplies last. Find all 21 hidden caches to receive a digital souvenir on your geocaching.com account.

Starting Sept. 19, 2025: Find the HCWHA US 250th GeoTour and get started.

Download the GeoTour Passport and get started.
