Historic Sites After Dark
Many heritage travelers have been on a guided tour of a historic house or district. But have you ever experienced such a historic place after dark? Visitors have the unique opportunity to do so at several sites across the Heritage Area each fall.
Fall 2016 events included:
- The Spirits of the Furnace: a night time walking tour of Catoctin Iron Furnace, constructed in 1774, hosted by the Catoctin Furnace Historical Society and Cunningham Falls State Park.
- Murder & Mayhem Walking Tours of Historic Frederick: beginning at the Museum of Frederick County History and traveling throughout the historic district. Event details can be found on Facebook.
- Ghost Tours at the Miller House Museum: the Historical Society of Washington County offered candlelit tours of the 1825 house in downtown Hagerstown.
- Ghost Walk in Carroll County: Carroll County Public Library staff led a 1.5 mile tour of Westminster.
- Hager House Ghost Tours (pictured): See the 275-year-old limestone house of the Father of Washington County.
- Ghost Tours of Historic Uniontown: Experience the historic village of Uniontown, less than 10 minutes from Westminster, along with refreshments and ghost stories.
